It was announced last week that the Olympic torch will be visiting Northamptonshire in a historical event that everyone in the area is proud to apart of.

The council’s community services manager, Pia Bellamy, said “having something of this stature coming to Kettering makes this a very exciting time. We want to maximise this opportunity as much as we can and we’re hoping to get schools, clubs, and businesses involved.”

As a way to encourage as many people to get involved with the Olympics residents of Northamptonshire will be able to nominate locals to carry the torch throughout it’s journey in the area.

Premier Judo Club head coach Richard Hull said: “Everyone here is looking forward to the Olympics, and by next summer there will be a lot of hype and excitement at the club. I’ve been nominated to be a local torchbearer and we’ll get involved in the town events.”

Taking part in the areas collective history is important for both individuals and businesses and is why such a historic event is supported by warehouses and distribution premises in the area.
